1.2. Intersecting "sects"Again, taking a slightly different perspective when scrutinizing collaboration and relations in general between the elements of a social world, we can talk of “sectsâ€. They are not explicit organizations with official presentatives but more informal subworlds, whose members are committed (because of their involvement, because they believe the mission, or raison d’etre of the social world) to the main ideas of their social world, but have a bit different interpretation of it. These sects borrow technology from other sects and teach and/or learn skills related to the techonology. The sects may also try to infiltrate other sects by providing services or sending “cover agents†or simply “clients†into those other informal subworlds. The difference between general subworld and sect is the latter's more radical, more rigid, believer-like attitude toward the main social world. Examples from Habbo and GeoCachingHabbo "sects": the infamous "Follow the path" -sect, whose members all dressed alike and moved together in large groups mumbling only "Follow the path". Geocaching "sects": trying to establish an ideology that, say, mountain climbing is the only acceptable context of the sport. Social design strategyAs a continuance to previous subsection, you must allow the existence and activity, or at least be aware the possibility of "sects": sub-groups that have perhaps very strong inner motivation and how believe that their mission (dealing perhaps the whole community - that you thought were yours...) is the right one.
